At Full Spectrum Dermatology, Dr. William P. Baugh offers a comprehensive range of cosmetic dermatology treatments designed to rejuvenate the skin and leave patients looking fresher, healthier, and altogether more vital and vibrant. One of the effective and popular of these treatments is laser skin resurfacing. Laser skin resurfacing is a safe, convenient, cost-efficient method of reducing the appearance of sun damage, aging, acne scarring, and other blemishes on the facial skin. Patients emerge with skin that is more even in tone, with the damaged outermost layers of skin removed to reveal the healthier layers underneath.

As safe and effective as laser skin resurfacing is, not all patients are good candidates for the procedure. To ensure their safety and satisfaction, Dr. Baugh carefully evaluates all laser skin resurfacing candidates at his Fullerton, CA dermatology practice before allowing them to undergo treatment. If they are not suitable candidates for laser skin resurfacing, he may suggest an alternative skin rejuvenating treatment to them.

It also stimulates the production of new collagen, which gives the skin a fuller appearance without the need for injectable treatments. While many patients use laser skin resurfacing as a facial rejuvenation treatment, it can safely be used to treat areas of the body other than the face, as well. The erbium laser keeps bruising and swelling to a minimum, and most patients heal relatively quickly after treatment. Generally, patients are able to conceal whatever redness remains from treatment with make-up within a week.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Candidacy

Laser skin resurfacing is intended for patients with significant skin imperfections. Patients with minor sun damage, discoloration, and wrinkling may be better suited to milder treatments such as microdermabrasion or one of our chemical peels. The best candidates for laser skin resurfacing include those who:
