What is SmartLipo™?
Before addressing which areas of the body SmartLipo™ can be used to treat, it is a good idea to define what SmartLipo™ is, exactly. In essence SmartLipo™ is laser-assisted liposuction. Like conventional liposuction, SmartLipo™ targets isolated pockets of fat that have accumulated on the body and that have stubbornly resisted diet and exercise. The fat cells are emulsified, or broken down, and then gently suctioned out using a device called a cannula.
Where SmartLipo™ differs from conventional liposuction is in how the fat cells are broken down. Whereas conventional liposuction uses the vibrations of the cannula to break down fat, SmartLipo™ uses laser energy to liquefy fat cells before their removal. Compared to conventional liposuction, SmartLipo™ allows for quicker healing and smoother results.
Which areas of the body can be treated with SmartLipo™?
Because SmartLipo™ differs from liposuction only in how the fat cells are broken down, it can be performed anywhere on the body where conventional liposuction can be performed. Common treatment areas include:
